Help keep drivers updated, before they hit traffic snarls and road work. Congestion and upcoming road work can be communicated in advance with an ITMS system and portable message signs.

Downstream traffic condition data is transmitted by enhanced dynamic portable message signs (OMS with RRS and traffic sensor interface) to the Central System Controller (CSC). The transmitted traffic data is analyzed and compared to preprogrammed scenarios by the CSC, and appropriate condition-response messages are transmitted to upstream portable message signs (OMS’s) to advise motorists of downstream traffic conditions.

Clear, bright LED signs communicate the transmitted message roadside. LED signs are the ideal solution, as they provide the quality resolution to display transmitted messages during both daytime and nighttime hours, in sunny conditions or in inclement weather conditions.

The CSC may additionally provide information to emergency management agencies (i.e., police, fire, medical), as well as update highway advisory radio systems (HAR’s) and internet websites.
